Fossil Goes Upscale With New Swiss-Made Watches
February 21, 2013 By Mark Bernardo 1 Comment
www.watchtime.com | wristwatch industry news industry | Fossil Goes Upscale With New Swiss Made Watches | Fossil Chronograph 2 150Texas-based Fossil, Inc., known for its range of low-priced, mass market wristwatches and accessories, has launched a new collection of Swiss-made timepieces, the first from the brand to include Swiss movements, including some mechanicals, with prices ranging from $695 to $995.
The new Fossil Swiss collection is comprised of three models, an Automatic with a mechanical movement, and a Chronograph and Day-Date model with Swiss quartz movements. All of the watches have five-piece case constructions and double-domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystals. The dials are also domed and feature applied numerals at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock positions and applied rectangular indices. The hour, minute, and second hands are slightly curved. Each of the watches is offered with either a full-grain genuine leather strap or a stainless steel three-link bracelet; several strap colors as well as dial color options are available. The Automatic models, whose cases measure 38 mm, have sapphire exhibition casebacks that offer a view of the movements (Fossil has not provided the details on the movements other than their Swiss origin.)

Find it interesting knowing they closed Claro in 2009. Haven't seen where or what they are using for movements.

Re: Fossil goes Swiss-Made
Those chronos look pretty sweet. My thoughts - 1) they put the "swiss made" designation above the 6, not below. Wasn't there some rule about the 2 words appearing on either side of the 30 minute marker? 2) The SM regulations are pretty lax. Some of the stuff companies get away with is crazy. Does it really justify jacking up the MSRP that much??

The question I would have to ask myself is am I willing to spend 700-1000 on a Fossil? No I am not 50 to 100 yeah. There are plenty of other brands out in that price range.

I don't mind the styling but at that price there are a lot of other brands that I would pick first.
