Seiko 5

Post by DBCooper on 2013-03-08, 18:02

I just picked these up for my boys (grandsons). I've never had a Seiko. I don't think these things wind up manually? Can I get a quick block of instruction before I butcher these things?

Most if you give them a few shakes they will start up. You could tell them to beat it with the left hand. lol! sorry couldn't resist.

Non hacking, non winding, couple shakes as John said and set the second hand by making it run backwards before it get too wind up....
Nice watches!

Really good choice for a kid's watch. Pretty tough for a non-G Shock, no fuss to use, and they keep very acceptable time.

Very nice of ya.

I considered the G-Shocks, but they were all so big (except for the Baby Gs). Can't have my boys wearing a watch that says Baby G Embarassed These guys wrists are tiny.

These 37-38mm Seikos look like they will work for them. Time for them to learn how to use a mechanical watch. Maybe they will be able to hang on to them longer than these quartz watches I keep buying them Laughing

Had to take every link out of both of them and set the micro adjustment to the smallest hole to make them fit. But they fit! The hollow bracelets were a pain in the ass Twisted Evil

Neither my Father or Grandfathers wore watches. I would have loved to have a gift like that. Making memories for them. Well done indeed.

A little update on Seikos. My youngest grandson loves his. His mom says it's his daily wearer Laughing The problem is, he has busted the spring bar out of it 3 times (@ the end link). Not sure what the problem is. After the 3rd time I ordered this XS strap for it. I'm not sure if the single fold clasp will work on his wrist, but we are gonna try it. Looks like he has been knocking it around pretty good too.

Wow, that black one is sharp! If you still have it in your hands would you mind telling me the model number? It should be on the back or at 6 oclock on the dial.

Damned if I can find it on the watch. The order from Mr Watch says SNK655K. It was on sale for 49 bucks at the time. Only thing I see on the exhibition case back is 7S26-02E0.

Edit to add: Found the hang tag. SNK655K1
