Good day fellas,
I'd been a bit turned off at first because of all the forum wars and fights with regards to SAS and CRUX, and had kinda put the idea of getting a SAS to the side... but for the past year, all the BS having died down finally ands seeing so many awesome shots of the SEA-1 and how amazing it looks on a wide variety of straps, I'd been wanting one again. I also read many raving reviews of the watch and the price is no longer much higher than other micros as it used to be. The one thing that's held me back until now was the size, I was worried it'd be too large and overpower my 7" wrist but I have a fairly big frame so I figured I'd give it a shot.. especially since the L2L is not too long.
So here I am, finally bought the SAS, I did not like the blue dial, the one with orange markers and PVD version... I also favored the black date wheel so that's why I picked this one, the best version IMHO and for my taste. Very simple and clean looks with this color combo, all black with white accent.

First impression when I opened the package was... WOW! big WOW! cheers
The packaging is amazing, high quality and one I would expect for much more expensive watch! I have owned most micros out there, well a lot anyways, and this one oozes quality and class more than all or most for sure, especially at that price! Aside from the Dievas I owned, I don’t recall a micro with a nice box and all… The box is beautiful inside and out, the little leather wallet/card holder is a nice touch, it is well made too. The bracelet is very nice if a bit generic, but I am not a bracelet guy anyways and this watch is begging for strap action anyways! It came with a nice rubber strap too but I will likely use a Isofrane when rubber time comes… pool, beach and overall summer activities Otherwise, I will wear this watch on a soon-to-arrive SNPR Horween leather strap and on a DREW canvas as on the photos below. The thick but supple Horween strap should be a perfect match for his high quality Micro diver.
The watch itself also delivered a WOW moment when I first strapped it on. It is for sure one of the best made and best looking micros out there (the second pat being subjective of course). First off not many have a sandwich dial like this beauty, the dial is very nice and lume very adequate even if not Seiko bright. I also dig the floating hands with black center, and polished edges. The dial is clean without superfluous text like many others. Markers are perfectly sized IMHO and make the dial well balanced overall. Minute markers are not duplicated all the way around the bezel, which is important to me as it clutters things up. Minute hand is the right length, I have had watches where the hand was too short and I do not like that at all. The second hand is lumed, important to me and many dive watch users. The bezel is just a masterpiece, solid, well machined and not crappy easy to scratch inserts here. The case is well finished, brushing is even and fine, corners well finished. The Hex screw bars are a nice addition and often lacking on many other micro divers even at higher priced ones. Case is very aesthetically pleasing overall and profile curve is not only great looking but also makes the watch sit nicely and comfortable on my wrist. Finally proportions are quite perfect for this watch design, length, thickness and diameter all work together! I would say though it is a large watch and probably at the limit for my 7” wrist. I will add it needs a thick strap from an aesthetic perspective.
Depth: 100 atm / 1000 meters
Case: 316L Stainless steel
Width: 44mm (excluding crown)
Lug bar to lug bar: 47mm (lug to lug 52mm)
Height: 16mm
Crystal thickness: 4.5mm
Movement: ETA 2824/2 with Incabloc Shock protection.
Anti-magnetic movement surround
Lug width: 24mm
Automatic Helium escape valve
Screw down crown
Screw down locking ring on crystal
Anti-reflective coated flat Sapphire crystal
Sandwich style dial

Overall I am very pleased with the watch, was also pleasantly surprised as it exceeded my expectations and am looking forward to playing with various straps. I don’t think there is a nicer Micro/Boutique diver at this price point and it completes favorably with over pricier options like the Korsbek and Zixen … IMHO! I recommend it

I'm digging the case, I always like the Crux but not the price and was unaware it was an issue between SAS and Crux etc. trying to stay away from the BS, as much as I can.
Very nice , I'm digging the case, a bit less than a $1,000 seems right for the quality too.
I will add something about the bracelet, I'm (like you) a strap guy but the SAS bracelet looks awesome!!!
Congrats!!!

Wow, that does have some bulk to it but it looks really well done. I like the minimal dial and black date wheel.

Thank you for the kind words!

Oh yeah. More than BS, full on attacks and mockery and lies and Etc... Was worst on 3T led by the owner and his squad and WUS had its full share of nasty threads.

Really clean looking piece, Brice. I too like the minimal dial and the black date window (more folks oughtta do that) and your strap choice rawks.

Very nice pickup, B. I really like your photos, too, especially with the canvas strap...ever thought of mesh? I always think a large bore mesh looks great with a saw-tooth bezel. Congrats! What a Face
