All quartz English brand that run from about 125 bucks (100 series, Jap. 3 hand) to 650 bucks (300 series, ETA 251 chrono). Online availability seems pretty sketchy but they seem to be available direct from UW website. Of course...I like the way they look. Smile

ABOUT US

Uniform Wares designs and produces timepieces based around a philosophy that is firmly rooted in classic British design and contemporary styling. Its wristwatches are intended for everyday use by individuals with an eye for meticulous detailing and a passion for diligent, modern design.

Established in 2009 by product designers, Oliver Fowles and Patrick Bek, the Uniform Wares aesthetic has been tailored with longevity in mind and a firm belief in design with a practical and visual permanence. Each collection is intentionally pared down and characterised by distinct form, considered use of materials and unique combinations of traditional horological details with robust engineered surface finishes. While the movements are handpicked from the best Japanese and Swiss manufacturers, every other component part of a Uniform Wares timepiece, from the CNC machined cases to the hand drawn font on the back of each case, is conceived, developed and designed in the company's London offices.

The precision that goes into designing and developing each Uniform Wares wristwatch collection is a slow, exacting process that results in each series being produced in small quantities with each subsequent series seeing the introduction of subtly alternative details.

Uniform Wares timepieces are available from this website and a select circle of UK and international retailers

Design Development

At Uniform Wares the development of each watch in our collections follows an exacting process from initial design ideas through to final production. Designing each watch always begins with lively conversation amongst the design team to determine the type of timepiece we are looking to create, the possible combinations of complications, materials and finishes we wish to include and most importantly defining what our customers will require from the timepiece. This process is the same whether we are working on a simple two hand dress watch or a calendar chronograph complication. We believe the individual who purchases a Uniform Wares watch expects subtle functionality, a high level of quality manufacture, distinctive technical surface treatments and a unique contemporary approach to wristwatch design.

The final proportions of each timepiece are reliant on the movement at it's heart, therefore we always design from the movement outwards. Once initial concepts and ideas have been worked through and the essence of the watch is solidified, development progresses through successive sketches of the timepiece, progressive 3D modelling drawings, photo realistic rendering and initial rapid prototyped models. Each of these elements enables us to constantly refine, update and evaluate the wristwatch design and decide on which versions to take to full prototype stage.
