Renato's TTV for 9/22
from the very quotable TemerityB at WL:
"Renato's slavish adherence to the 50mm-plus case size"
Currently at a presale set price of an eye-popping $1220, the T Rex Gen 2 automatic.

Yeah, not a 50mm fan either. The word about the upcoming "new" Renato designs is that they'll all be in the 44-47mm range.
But, I've lost interest in the brand for the most part. They'd have to bring back something truly stunning to gain my attention again.

As someone who has been an unabashed fan of the brand, I watched the roll-out of this watch with equal parts incredulousness and numb disbelief. Are they kidding? For $1200 bones they could have built that long-defunct tour-bee-yawn that Mink was never able to get done...

If it was smaller at a much lower price without the diamonds it would interest me. The design is not bad.

Despite a day of hocking them at $860 a pop special pricing, all colors still available in quantity.

Apparently, better-heeled geeks are keeping their powder dry for things like Tissots, Hammies, Seikos, Orients, Longines--you know, real watches.
