Swatch Releases $90 Scuba Libre Divers’ Watch
June 11, 2013 By Jason Francisco
For those in search of a dive watch who are on a tight budget, Swatch has released a line of inexpensive dive watches named Scuba Libre. Water-resistant to 200 meters, the Scuba Libre watches have bold indicators in high-contrast colors, making them easy to read when underwater. The watches also feature rotating bezels and silicone straps.
The new collection offers several models in nine different color combinations, with three of the new models featuring transparent dials to show the colorful movements inside their translucent cases. The Scuba Libra retails for just $90.

I've got to admit that I kind of like the Deep Turtle, the black one with green trim, and the only one with a NATO-style strap. It'll be interesting to see how well they do when they pop-up in a location near you...where it'll get whacked with local sales taxes and the odd mark-up, making the $90. price tag a fond memory.

I bought a swatch a long time ago, hated it. Plating came of the crown in about two months, strap was way to short for me, and looked like something a little kid would wear as their first watch.

Not overly impressed, to be honest. They refer back to the disposable Swatches of the early 80s that allowed you to change strap colours, casings, etc, for about the price of a couple of pints. I didn't like them, either.

These remind me of high school when the plastic swatch with different color crystal protectors was very popular. I wouldn't slap one of those on my wrist now, but for a early teen this is a great way to keep them from going digital!!

That reminds me of the old Jellyfish I had back in the day. Hasn't run since the mid-1980s.
I wonder if they'll be bringing back the little stretchy crown protectors we all had 30 years ago?
At any rate, those designs are clearly meant for teenagers and young adults. I turn 40 this year, so I'm too old for them. But I imagine the kids will love them.

Now wait just a minute there, SF2...I happen to be 54 years old and I'd gladly trade places with you...young whippersnapper!

Nah. Over the whole ETA and Swatch stuff. Considering you could get a G Shock or Mako/Ray for around the same price, I'd pass. Plus they look like ICE and Toy watches which ensue nausea upon viewing.
