Take a Penny, Leave a Penny
...one man's trash is another's treasure, or watch giveaway chain mail.
I have come up with a new give-away game we all can participate in. We all have the watch drawer full of "misfit" watches, either not our style, broken, or no longer worn and not worth selling. Here is a way to move them on to happier homes:
-One person will list the watch as a give-away. This watch can be broken, need battery, whatever. Any condition is fine!
-If anyone wants it, they must step forward and make a post saying they will take it by replying to the thread. First come, first serve!
-At that point I will lock the thread until the watch is delivered to its new home. Once I receive notice that the watch has arrived, I will unlock the thread, the new owner now MUST list a watch from their boxes to be given away. Then repeat the above process.
The Rules:
Post a pic and adequately describe the watch.
Mail it to the new owner via a traceable method.
No catch and release, if the watch is not to your liking, you must keep it and try to give it away at another round.
I may change the rules as needed for logistics.
I think that is it. Have fun. I will start:

Adidas
Almost like new condition, 40mm or so in diameter, may need a new battery soon, two links removed and sized to 7 inches (not for the 8inch wrist crowd). No box, papers etc.

Ok, so my first Adidas didn't get moved. Sooo I will offer another Adidas from the box. Orange dial chrono. New strap. Scratches from well loved use on the case. I don't know how much life left in the battery.

Re: Take a Penny, Leave a Penny
For those of you who didn't see the WURW yesterday, this was what I received, courtesy of my buddy, AJC, and the WF's TAP-LAP (sounds like something you might enjoy at a seedy bar with equally seedy ladies... ) thread:
Ah...brings back all those amazing Cold War memories...
And, here's what Mort's offering for his fellow TAP-LAPpers:
Offered for your penny-pinching approval is this NOS Orient 'SK Crystal,' a classically styled automatic diver with adjustable depth/decompression calculator located on the outer edge of the dial. This package includes the aftermarket silicone rubber, rally-style strap I put on it to match the lines on the dial, the original - and very cheaply made - bracelet and a current-market Orient presentation box.
Movement: Orient in-house three-hand automatic w/21 jewels (+4-5 sec/day)
Crystal: Plastic
Case Material: Stainless steel
Case Diameter: ~42mm
Crown @ 3 o'clock: Sets time, day & date
Crown @ 4 o'clock: Adjusts depth/decompression calculator (outer ring)
This is a 20+ y/o NOS watch and, as such, is not recommended for underwater use without first checking the gaskets/seals and replacing them, if necessary.
I love this watch, and hope you will, too...

Re: Take a Penny, Leave a Penny
Wow! Just, WOW:
Thanks, Mort, you crazy old Navy-flying-bastard! I'd been kicking around the idea of getting one of these off ebay or somewhere for a couple of months now!
Okay, now up is my Volmax Aviator:
I got this a couple of years ago as a gift from Mark (yes, that Mark) over at BDWF. It's very cool, and very Russian (none of that Lithuanian-Eastern-European shit in this one.) It's got a cool dial:
And an even cooler caseback:
It's a hand-cranker, with the stripped down Poljot 3133 chrono movement inside (I forget the caliber number) that's had the chrono plate removed and leaving behind the hour and minute hands, the 9-eater subdial, and the absurdly tiny date window between the 4 and 5. Because it uses the same mainspring as the 3133, it's got a very long power reserve (probably around 60 hours, but I never measured it. My other Poljots ran this long) but leave it to be said it runs a long fucking time off a full wind.
This is a large watch:
--compared with my newest boner-inducing OS300. Here it is on the wrist:
Like all Russian export watches, this one is a "numbered limited edition" of 888/999. It's all stainless with a mineral crystal. I'm including the original box and bracelet plus the very fine Debaufre leather strap and signed buckle that I'm too fucking lazy to take off.
Good luck!
