Rotary signs with Signet Group
Aug 15, 2012
Rotary will launch its new Jura collection of skeletonised automatic watches through Signet Group, in a deal that will give Ernest Jones and H Samuel exclusivity.
The range features Rotary’s first proprietary movement and open case backs. The Jura family of timepieces will also be part of a high-profile TV advertising campaign.
The Jura range features a total of 20 new skeleton models, some with black and gunmetal ion plating. Three pocket watches also feature in the collection, and all are Swiss made.

I don't like Rotary due to WOW. I'm not sure if these are a better line of them or not. For those wondering who or what Signet group is they are traded on the London and New York stock exchange owning Jared and Kay Jewelers in U.S. and H Samuel and Ernest Jones Jewelers in the UK.

Interesting development. I don't care for their derivative designs, but maybe the new stuff will stike me.

At least they're getting away from the chinese junk they were pumping out. They made a couple nice swiss cartier "homages" one of which I owned.
But then they went and made exact copies of those pieces with all chinese components.
I'm interested in what this proprietary movement is all about. Rotary has a large following in England.

Time will tell, just like so many others, including Renato. However I think that train has left the station..........

I have that same 'homage' above, but DB's got the real deal. I hope that this news really does herald a change back to Rotary's better days. (I tend to agree with Ocean's view that WoW had a hand in cheapening a once-proud Swiss brand...)

I really liked that watch. I just can't wear anything over 43mm with my tiny wrist. And in a dressier watch like that i'd prefer 41mm or less.

Though I don't care for skeletonize dials, I kind of like the looks of the top one in this pic. Size anyone?
I own two swiss made Rotary mechanicals and love them both. But they haven't been making them like they use to.

DB has a cartier? I know he has the same watch as I pictured, is that what you meant, or does he have a cartier?

I like how the movement has a subdued, matte finish. It shows off the movement without taking focus away from the rest of the watch. I'm interested in learning more about the technical aspects of the movement as well.

Sorry about the confusion, AJ. DB has the original Rotary, as per your picture; his has the semi-exhibition back, with the 'cross-piece' and globe overlaid on the crystal. Damned fine watch...AJC wrote:DB has a cartier? I know he has the same watch as I pictured, is that what you meant, or does he have a cartier?
It's actually Neds who has the Carty-air...you don't suppose I could get Neds to put that into the Leave a Penny Take a Penny doo-dad, do you...?
