"Triple Date" Empty "Triple Date"

I have seen the topic of "triple date" display come up on several WIS forums. It seems to drive people nuts. The concept doesn't bother me, but it got me wondering who came up with the idea. I can't imagine an enthusiast telling IWC, "I really like seeing the date, but man if only I can see yesterday and tomorrow's date as well, well that would be the shit."

Thoughts?
