This one has been poking at me for a couple of months now so I decided to go ahead and give Watchmann a call. He wouldn't haggle with me on the price so I paid the full 550.00 USD for it. He did, however, upgrade the shipping to priority for me at his cost. As I have said in the past I don't really feel qualified to offer up a REAL review to you guys so I will just post some pics with the particulars.

I usually don't have much to say on the packaging because I don't really care much about it. However this packaging is so lame I am going to mention it. It is lame! Basically a holiday candy tin with Junkers printed on the top of it. And I still haven't figured out what the deal is with Watchmann shipping it with a Tootsie Pop. A subliminal message that I'm a sucker?

The case diameter is 40mm with a 20mm lug width. Perfect size!

I like the dial layout. 40hr power reserve at twelve, date at three and a 24hr subdial at six (no dual time).

This is my 1st non eta automatic watch. The movement is a Miyota 9100. The reviews I have read online about it seem positive. It ran approximately +6 seconds for the 1st 24 hours. Here are some specs from the Citizen website.

A closeup of the movement. It actually looks better than this picture shows.

The crystal is hesalite and it sticks out far past the bezel. I'm not feeling real good about this crystal. It actually has a soft feeling to it on the fingertips. Going to have to put away the magnifiers when handling this watch. A couple of WIS have told me not to worry about it. I understand these can be polished up to look new pretty easily. We shall see.

The crown is signed and the buckle isn't. The leather strap says Fatto a mano and seems decent enough.

Has a small amount of lume that isn't too bad. Surprised they put any lume at all on it.

Although the strap seemed ok I put this Hadley Roma oil tanned leather with a single deployant clasp on it. I like it.

A couple of final shots with the strap change. Thanks for looking.

So far so good. It's keeping better time on this second wind (-1sec). Could be the position it's in. The first 24 was laying flat dial up and last 20 or so perpendicular to the ground 6 at the bottom. The second hand sweep looks just as smooth as my eta's. The rotor spins much easier than any of my eta's. The wind doesn't feel quite as smooth though. I love the look of the watch. My biggest concern is the hesalite crystal.

While the hesalite will scratch easier than mineral or sapphire, a cape cod cloth will take it out if it isn't too deep..........

I will coming to you for some tips on this biged. I can already see tiny tiny tiny swirlies on the hesalite just from wiping it with microfiber. I gotta get rid of them damn visors Junkers Bauhaus 6060-2 Nose-p10

no problem DB. The very first day i received my father-in-laws Rolex, I hit a door frame and put about a 3/4 inch scratch in the acrylic crystal. Between all the profanity, and a couple libations i tried a Cape Cod Cloth and rubbed for about ten minutes, polished it out and VOILA' that fucker was gone.

Since that time it has been handled with kid gloves to avoid any more stupidity on my part........ed

Beautiful watch, Neds, and many thanks for the good laugh I got regarding your theory on the tootsie-pop. I'm not a big fan of hesalite, as I actually scratched a new dial while scraping a piece of 'unknown mung' off it with a dulled thumbnail (i.e. hadn't been trimmed in a few days and so it was smooth). I'll forego re-telling examples of the expletives I uttered in a rather elevated voice. Embarassed

Thanks for the great post, Neds!

I really like the black dial, vintage brown strap. Nicely done.

If you need it quick try a local hardware store or ACE hardware if you have one. Great pickup, DB the 9100 is a newer movement. I think Junkers has the best looking use of the 9100.

When this thing is in a perpendicular position with 6 at the bottom it is spot on. And I mean spot on the second after 24 hours (in this position). It did run just a bit fast when laying flat dial up. I pains me to say it but the only eta I have that runs this well is the 2897 in the Mido Baroncelli. Damn Jap shit. Razz
