Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
Beautiful watches, the model shown at the top of your post looks a little like a Lumtec (really appealing to me as I like their designs but I would prefer to support CW and wold buy from them without hesitation). Nice design on the new buckle with the ratcheting type micro-adjust, nice to see this being used beyond Rolex, Seiko, etc.

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
Hi All,
At www.thewatchreviewsite.co.uk we will be doing an in depth article on the upcoming Christopher Ward Watches over the next week as we have just received the information and go ahead from Christopher Ward themselves today.
Once done would love to share it with you all here...
If you are interested in CW watches we have undertaken hands on reviews for both the C8 U2 Vintage Pilot and C11MSL Black Manta Auto, Both Great Watches.
CW watches have taken a big leap in quality and looks recently in our opinion, they were always good watches but they are now fantastic in our opinion.

Gents,
I see you are all interested in the CW monopusher so what would you all pay for one, bearing inmind its effectively got an inhouse swiss movement in the JJ02.
Just wondering as I have a guide as to what its being launched at and wondering if it fits with general concensus.

I have done some google investigation on the matter. Not many mono pushers out there. Mont Blanc has one in the 10k range, Bell and Ross at 6K. Longines has one coming out this year, but no prices that I could find. I expect CW to release that model at around $2500, which is "No Man's Land" as far as I'm concerned. Too expensive for most, and reaching into the territory of more established, respected brands.

$3700 puts in in the league with several more desirable brands. I'm sure they will sell out if they keep the production numbers small. Pass for me though.

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
What's the 411 on this movement? Is it completely in-house or did they team up with someone to customize another movement, like they did with their jump hour. The guy they teamed up with for that was only 27 years old, which I found pretty cool.

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
They teamed up with the same guy again and its an adaption of a a completely re-worked adaptation of the Unitas 6497 calibre.
Sorry, When I said effectively in house movement I men't that its like having one working with a specific watchmaker, and yes hes now only 28 years old, I think its a smart move by CW.

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
It's a beauty, but way out of my league at that cost...is this the reason Watchforums removed the term 'affordable' from our moniker?

I agree, the man is super-talented. A jump-hour from a 2824 and a monopusher chronograph from a 6497? Skillz to pay the billz...

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
Many thanks, DeeBs...I get frustrated sometimes, to the point that I'm looking at the possibility of doing what Cheez does: buy one really cool watch per year...trouble is, there are a lot of watches out there in that <$500 range, and how does one pass on all those wonderful, affordable pieces...?DBCooper wrote:That's just one model Mort. CW has plenty of autos for less than 500 bucks. Mine was 280 bucks from across the big pond all the way to the house. If that's not affordable I don't know what is.
That monopusher is a bit out of my range too, but I still love looking.
(BTW, where did you get that $280 CW...? I promise I won't tell... )

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
Guys,
Just for clarity, This is going to be CW's most expensive watch released yet, they still have many great swiss made watches at affordable prices.
But this just shows they are serious about moving up a step and competing at a different level. I think

Expensive for a CW....defeat the intended original thought of, affordability with quality.

For what it is it's still inexpensive, however the brand is unproven at this price range.
I think it was the cw forum that pointed out that the movement is not decorated. The original drawings had a decorated movement. Kind of disappointing, even though at that price, i feel there are better options.

Re: Upcoming Christopher Ward watches
Very nice snippet, TWRS. I like the watch a great deal, but the most enjoyable aspect of the article was the very obvious enthusiasm in the writing there; I could almost hear "Yippee!" between the lines... How cool it must be to wear a watch like that and know that it's a one-of-a-kind piece. Many thanks for this latest post.
